De Bruyne gives Man City win over Wolves to stay on track for UCL

 

Kevin De Bruyne delivered a pivotal performance in Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, significantly bolstering their prospects for UEFA Champions League qualification. In what was his penultimate home game at the Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute, capitalizing on a precise cutback from Jérémy Doku .

This win propels City to third place in the Premier League with 64 points from 35 matches, placing them ahead of Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest—all of whom have a game in hand . The victory also ended Wolves' impressive six-match winning streak. 

De Bruyne's goal not only secured three crucial points for City but also marked his 250th goal involvement under manager Pep Guardiola, a milestone previously achieved only by Lionel Messi . Despite Wolves' efforts, including two shots that hit the woodwork, they were unable to find the back of the net .

With three league games remaining, City's path to Champions League qualification is firmly in their hands. De Bruyne, set to leave the club at the end of the season, continues to demonstrate his invaluable contribution to the team .
